title: Get Page Assets
description: Get asset and downloadable link URLs from the opened page
---

List the files a page uses or offers for download (images, documents, video, audio, scripts, styles) with their names and types.

## What it does

Get Page Assets scans the active tab, or the area inside **DOM Selector**, and returns one item per file found. Turn each kind on or off under **Options**:

* **Images** (on): `<img>` images and background images set by the page's styles.
* **Downloadable Links** (on): links that point to a file. A link counts when it has a download attribute, or when its address ends in a known file type such as `.pdf`, `.zip`, `.csv`, `.docx`, `.xlsx`, `.mp3`, `.mp4`, `.png` or `.json`. Links to ordinary web pages are left out.
* **Media** (on): video and audio sources.
* **Scripts** (off) and **Styles** (off): the page's script files and stylesheets.

Addresses are made absolute, and the same file is listed only once per kind.

## When to use it

* Collect every PDF or spreadsheet linked from a page, then download or read them.
* Build a list of the media on a page, with file names ready to use.
* For just image URLs as a simple list, [Get All Images](/nodes/extension/getallimages/) is enough. For every link, including ordinary pages, use [Get All Link](/nodes/extension/getalllinks/).

## Inputs and settings

Leave **DOM Selector** empty to scan the whole page, or click the crosshair button in the field and click the area to scan (a downloads section, an article).

## Outputs

Each run returns a list of items with these fields:

```json title="Shape of an output item"
[
  {
    "url": "…",
    "category": "…",
    "tagName": "…",
    "selector": "…",
    "text": "…",
    "filename": "…",
    "extension": "…"
  }
]
```

* `url`: the full address of the file.
* `category`: `image`, `link`, `media`, `script` or `style`.
* `filename` and `extension`: taken from the address, for example `report-2026.pdf` and `pdf`. Both are empty when the address has no file name.
* `text`: the text of the element, such as a link's label ("Download the annual report").
* `selector`: where the element is on the page.

## Dependencies and credentials

None. This node needs no connection and has no slots for other nodes.

## Example workflow

1. Open a page that lists reports and run the workflow from a [Hotkey](/nodes/builtin/trigger/hotkey/) trigger.
2. Add **Get Page Assets** with only **Downloadable Links** on.
3. Add [Filter](/nodes/builtin/flow/filter/) to keep items where `{{ $input.extension }}` equals `pdf`.
4. Add [Http Request](/nodes/builtin/core/http-request/) with **URL** = `{{ $input.url }}` and **Response format** = `file`, then [PDF Parser](/nodes/builtin/datatransformation/pdfparser/) to read each PDF.

## Common issues

* **The output is empty.** No file of the selected kinds was found, or **DOM Selector** matched nothing. Turn on more kinds under **Options**, or scan the whole page.
* **A download link is missing.** Its address does not end in a known file type (for example a link like `/download?id=42`) and it has no download attribute. Use [Get All Link](/nodes/extension/getalllinks/) to see every link.
* **Too many small images (icons, logos).** Turn **Images** off, or narrow the scan with **DOM Selector**.
* **The node fails outside the extension.** This node runs in the browser extension; install it or run the workflow from the extension.
